Dad's Spaghetti recipe

When it comes to pleasing the whole family, it can be very difficult to do. It can be even harder if you have children in your home because they all seem to like different foods and can be very picky eaters. However, this dad's spaghetti recipe is one that you can make knowing everyone in the family will love it.

Ingredients List:

2 pounds of lean ground beef
1/2 pound of pork sausage
1 medium or large coarse Bermuda onion, chopped
Virgin olive oil as needed
3 28 ounce cans of peeled tomatoes, mashed but not drained
1 small can of tomato paste
3 large cloves of garlic
1 tbsp Italian seasoning
Salt and pepper to taste
1 package of spaghetti

Directions:

The first thing that you are going to do is to take out a large sized skillet and brown the meat in a small amount of olive oil and then remove it from the heat and set it aside. Now you will want to brown the onion in a small amount of olive oil. Now add the meat back in and cook it over a low heat. Now take out a separate pan and cover the bottom of the pan lightly with olive oil. Take and add in your tomato paste and the peeled tomatoes. Bring it to a fast boil, making sure to stir it constantly. When it is cooked down to a thick consistency, you will add the tomato mixture to the meat and onion mixture. Don't drain off any liquid from the tomato mixture before you add it to the meat. Now you will want to mince the garlic and add it in to the mixture. Go ahead and salt and pepper it lightly.

You will bring it to a boil, while stirring it until it becomes slightly thick. Now, partially cover it and simmer it to your desired consistency, make sure that you stir it occasionally to prevent it from burning. Add salt and pepper to taste. Once the sauce is as thick as you want it to be, fully cover it and place it on a very low heat for about an hour, be careful not to burn it. When it is almost done, you will want to go ahead and cook your spaghetti according to the directions printed on the package. Then you will drain the spaghetti and put it on to plates, spoon this great sauce on to the top and serve it.
